Your information

Privacy Policy

We want you to understand what happens to your information when you play Geo Quiz Lab. This policy describes the website's current features, what stays in your browser, and how to reach us.

Privacy at a glance

You can play our geography quizzes without registering or giving us your name. The games run in your browser. Longer challenges can save your answers and place in the quiz on that browser, so you can continue later. We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand page visits and how people use the games. GA4 runs when you visit the site and may set analytics cookies.

The company hosting a website may still process basic technical information to deliver pages, protect its systems, and keep access logs. If you email us, your message contains information you choose to share. These situations are explained below.

Information you choose to share

When you play a quiz

We do not ask for an account, profile, address, or payment details to play. In the current version of the site, quiz answers are handled in your browser rather than submitted to a Geo Quiz Lab user account or database.

When you email us

If you write to [email protected], we receive your email address, message, and any information or attachments you include. We use that information to understand and respond to your request, investigate a reported problem, or follow up on a correction. Email delivery and storage also involve our email service provider. Please do not send passwords, financial details, or other sensitive information in a support message.

Quiz progress saved on your device

Some longer games use your browser's local storage to remember progress. For example, All 195 in the Flag Quiz and All 50 in the US States Map Quiz and State Shape Quiz may store the selected question order, your answers, and where you stopped. Quick rounds generally do not need saved progress.

This information is stored in that browser, not synchronized across devices or linked to an account. It can disappear if you clear site data, use private browsing, switch browsers, or prevent websites from saving local data. If saving is blocked, the quiz can still be played but a longer challenge may not resume after you leave.

How to clear saved progress: Open your browser's settings, find site data or storage for the Geo Quiz Lab website, and remove it. Clearing site data can also reset other saved preferences for this website. We cannot restore a challenge after its local data has been erased.

Technical information involved in loading the site

Like other websites, Geo Quiz Lab must deliver pages, images, and files over the internet. A hosting or network provider may automatically process technical details such as IP addresses, browser type, requested URL, access time, and error or security information. Such records can be needed for delivering the site, preventing abuse, and diagnosing outages. The exact logs and their retention depend on the hosting provider's configuration.

We do not use this policy to promise that network providers retain no logs or that traffic never crosses international networks. If you need information about a particular request or a privacy concern, contact us using the address below.

Cookies, analytics, and advertising

We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4), operated by Google, to understand page visits and game interactions such as starting a quiz, submitting an answer, using a hint, and finishing a round. These events describe the game, question type, mode, and score. They are not intended to include your name, email address, or the individual answers saved on your device. Google may also process technical information, including IP address, browser or device details, and the page visited.

GA4 runs automatically when you open the site and may use cookies such as _ga and _ga_* to recognize visits and measure usage. We do not currently provide an on-site analytics consent or preference panel. You can manage or delete cookies in your browser settings and can use Google's Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on where supported. Blocking cookies does not necessarily prevent every analytics request.

We have disabled Google signals and advertising personalization signals in the GA4 configuration, and we do not load a separate advertising script from this site's code. Google processes analytics information under its own terms and policies; you can read Google's Privacy Policy. Your saved quiz progress remains separate in your browser's local storage.

Our pages link to sources including the United Nations, US Census Bureau, Natural Earth, National Park Service, and open-source asset repositories. Clicking a link can take you to a site with its own privacy practices. The destination site controls what it collects after you leave Geo Quiz Lab. We recommend reviewing the relevant policy if you follow an external link.

Sharing, retention, and security

We do not offer an account-based database of individual players' quiz answers, and we do not sell stored quiz progress. Information from your support emails may be shared with service providers involved in delivering email or operating the site, or disclosed when reasonably required by law or to address security issues. We do not publish your support messages as testimonials without permission.

We keep support correspondence only for as long as reasonably necessary to handle the request, related follow-up, or applicable obligations; we have not set a universal deletion deadline for every email. We take reasonable care with messages we receive, but no internet transmission or storage method can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

Your choices and requests

You can choose not to send us an email, clear local quiz progress through your browser, and avoid following external links. Depending on where you live and the type of data involved, you may also have rights to request access to, correction of, or deletion of information we hold about you, or to object to certain uses.

To ask about personal information contained in a support email, contact [email protected] with enough context for us to locate the correspondence. We may need to verify that a request concerns your own information. We cannot directly read or delete local quiz data stored only inside your browser.

Children and learning

Our games cover general geography and do not require a child to create an account or supply personal details. We do not intentionally request personal information from children through the games. If you believe a child has sent personal information to us by email and want help reviewing or removing it, please contact us.

Changes to this policy

We may update this page as our games, hosting, or third-party services change. Any revised policy will carry a new “Last updated” date. Significant changes involving information collection will be explained here, and additional notices or choices will be provided where required.
